Jeepers, where'd you get those CREEPERS??? Hot Summer footwear!

Hi lovely readers...

Welcome to my 'new look' blog - I hope you like it?

The fashionistas already know all about the Prada CREEPER craze, but for the average Aussie shopper it will be something new OR maybe, something old but new again!

The Spring/Summer 2011 collections for PRADA Men and Women featured the new 'Flatform'* called "Creepers".  A clompy "must have" shoe. The $US 795 leather brogue (following on from the brogue look for winter) features an espadrille lower and a rubber platform sneaker sole.  Upon release, they sold out immediately in the US and many other countries.  That said - they are not the prettiest of styles but they are definitely great for anyone who wants a little height without too much elegance.

Australian Vogue fashion editor, Meg Gray wore hers to most shows over Sydney fashion week in May this year.

So take a look, see what you think....

This is the girliest version...

Ladies and Gentlemen, this is the Creeper....

The Creeper comes in many different shapes and forms.

Working the Creepers..

I love a trend and I quite like this shoe.  However, I would never recommend a client to buy something like this unless it was them.

It's definitely for the fashion pack and who's who in the zoo!

So, you can walk on by....

if you want to :)

There are many more takes on this style, which don't come from Prada.  I'll let you know my faves for Spring/Summer 11/12 in the next few days.

Love

HEY LADIES....put this VIP Sale in your diaries!!!!

Hi Lovelies

I hope you're having a fantastic day.  I am loving the gorgeous sunshine in Melbourne this week - it's so glorious.  I hope it's beautiful wherever you are...yes, I am feeling the LOVE today :)

I have just received a little email which I wanted to share with you.  An invitation to the Sass and Fate sale at their offices on the 14th of July.  Sorry to those who will not be in Melbourne, the sale is in Collingwood, VIC.  Maybe you could ask someone you know to pick up a few bargains for you.

These guys do some really cool, up to the minute designs.  It's all about getting the latest looks for a great price.  The normal retail on their clothing is reasonable, so you will definitely pick up some bargains. My sister in law has been going for a number of years and she loves it.  The styling of both brands covers quite a broad demographic.  So you are sure to find something to suit.  Here's some more info from their websites....

WHICH COAT? An overview of the seasons best Coats for Men and Women.

Hi People,

I hope you had a fantastic weekend, wherever you are....

COATS! They make so many outfits look fantastic and best of all, they keep us warm.  Funnily enough the classic styles are generally in fashion for men and women at the same time eg. men's and women's trench coats.

I have put together a list of my favourite styles, that are very fashionable this season.  Maybe one will be exactly right for you? FYI, I have included a little bit of history on the more classic styles.  I love a bit of history.

It's a great time to buy yourself a coat with all the sales on.  Obviously, some coats are just too heavy for some parts of Australia but there are definitely light weight styles and versions available to make up for it.  So, please read on and enjoy....

THE CHUBBY

This is a personal favourite of mine at the moment.  I  just love they way chubby's can be worn during the day with chunky boots or stacked heels.  Then can be popped on at night for a much more glam look.

Strictly for the Chicks, sometimes all you need is a fantastic faux fur jacket.  Which is best balanced out by minimal volume on the bottom with leggings, tights or skinny jeans.  This is not the best style if you have broad shoulders, big boobs, tummy, bottom and thighs.  It will tend to make you look bigger.

This is hot..

Tres chic....

THE TRENCH COAT

History - taken from Wikipedia
The Trench Coat was designed as alternative to the heavy coats worn by the British and French soldiers in the first world war.  The invention of the trench coat is claimed by both Burberry and Aquascutum, with Aquascutum's claim dating back to the 1850s.  Thomas Burberry, the inventor of gabardine fabric, submitted a design for an army officer's raincoat to the UK war office in 1901.

Since then everyone from Humphrey Bogart and Victoria Beckham to HRH the Queen, have worn the Trench Coat!

Today
This classic coat is not going anywhere.  Burberry and Aquascutum are the kings of the Trench for both men and woman.  As you can see by the photographs below it is such a gorgeous coat, but needs to be worn by the person.  You cannot let the coat wear you!  If you feel restricted or your look is not classic, then this baby is not necessarily for you.  I have tryed it a number of times and it does not suit me.

Men and women, this style is fantastic for business life, dinners or smart functions.  If styled right, it looks sensational with jeans and boots. Then loafers or dress shoes with a slim pant/jean for the guys . The Trench has a gorgeous British/French feel about it.  You will look very polished in this style.  Trench coats can come with silk and fur linings, beautiful button detail and are now in everything from tartan to faux leopard skin.  I bet you know which one I like the best.........yes, the classic bone colour.

Note:  Spend a bit of money on a trench coat as the cheap versions are exactly that - CHEAP! This coat is a keeper.  It will last you for years and years. It will be a wardrobe fave and a great transeasonal piece.

Charleze working her Trench Coat....

Nicole Fahri for the boys......NICE!

I love Alexa in hers..... she looks so relaxed...is it Burberry???

THE PEA COAT

Pea coat history - taken from Wikipedia
"Originally worn by American and European sailors.  Pea coats have broad lapels and double breasted fronts, with large buttons and vertical slash pockets.  The references for the pea coat appear in American newspapers as far back as the 1720s.  The term "PEA COAT" refers back to the Dutch word pijekker, in which pij referred to the type of cloth used, a coarse kind of twilled blue cloth with a fuzzy side."

Pea Coats have been traditionally made in a wool melton.  I love they have kept the same appearance over the years and are still cool!

Today
For both men and women this look is cool look.  You'll probably have noticed there are quite a number of takes on the pea coat in other fabrics this season.  Including: large checks, leopard, tweed and brights.
This coat is not usually for the office but definitely wear it on the train to work.  It's for day wear, the weekend, the country, a casual dinner, the footy and walking by the sea.  Think of the gorgeous Patrick Dempsey a.k.a Dr Derrick Shepherd in Greys Anatomy.  I can definitely see him in one of these.

The pea coat is a good style if you are on the short side.  As it won't take you over like the classic overcoat. It's a very flattering coat, the way it trapezes out over the hips and has that lovely double breasted buttoning, which you can wear open or closed.  I love the military styling of the pea coat this season - with brass or silver buttons.

This style is another keeper and will last you for years if you invest in a good one.  Again, it's the perfect time to buy a pea coat.  Make sure it's wool or has a high wool content.

Here with leather button holes....

So yummy and easy! I love this and can see her with a gorgeous chunky, flat boot too...

I have seen loads of this around and I love it.  Mostly it's more soft muted, larger checks in a slightly fluffier wool pile.  This one is definitely casual..... but HOT, just the same!

THE ANORAK

Anorak history
The anorak was originally invented by the Caribou Inuit (Eskimo) of the Artic region, who needed clothing that would protect them from wind chill and wetness. Originally made from caribou or seal.  Certain types of the Inuit anoraks had to be regularly coated with fish oil to keep their water resistance.  The anorak has a large hood and the garment was often lined with fur, to protect the face from a combination of freezing temperatures and wind.

The anorak was a big look for punks, mods and trainspotters in the UK and was copied all over the world.

Today
The Anorak is a casual coat to keep you warm, but this season it is also a fashion item.

There are many different weights for anoraks.  You would have seen them in heavy cotton drill in khaki colours throughout our summer and autumn.  They can be made in anything from silk to wool.  But I want to concentrate on the classic waterproof/water resistant anorak, which is lined and stuffed with down or synthetic fibre to keep you lovely and warm.  This is the coat you take to the snow!  The coat that has the most warmth out of anything in your wardrobe.  It's your mobile doona!  You can wear it over denim for for day and then pop it over evening wear for night - tres chic at the moment.  Although, you need to be confident to carry the evening look off - see below for ideas.

The best colours are usually military - mostly khaki, brown, blue, black and mushroom, with great faux fur trimmed hoods.  They look especially good with a slim bottom half i.e. skinny jeans, tights or leggings.

I love this for evening...

and this one...

For the boys....

THE OVERCOAT

The history of the overcoat - taken from Wikipedia
In many countries, coats and gowns reaching below the knee have been worn for centuries, often for formal uses, establishing either social status or as part of a professional or military uniform. In the 17th century, the overcoat became widely stylised and available to the different classes.

Today
The overcoat is the most classic of all the coats - in my opinion.  The classic overcoat is usually made in wool or a wool mix.  The ultimate is a cashmere or cashmere mix overcoat - stunning and stunningly expensive!  Overcoats as I am sure you know are available in many different colours and prints.  I have seen them in the muted checks with buckles and military epaulets for both men and women.

This style is classic and is worth spending money on.  Especially as it may well be the coat you wear to work, out for dinner, evening wear and even to the football.  Your one coat for the season.  It can look extremely posh and stylish on both sexes.  Especially if you find one in a lovely wool with a great cut.  Ensure it fits you in the shoulders and you can fit a blazer underneath.  You don't want to be restricted.

Gucci Men Winter 2012...

More Gucci Men....

From Aquascutum Winter 2012 collection...

and this one.....

So.....that's my coat wrap up.  Remember a coat is not a jacket.  A coat is supposed to go over your jacket, knit or outfit in general to give you that extra warmth, whilst still looking cool!

Until next time, stay warm.

GUCCI MENSWEAR - THIS IS THE LOOK GUYS!!! Sexy and Naughty....

Well Hello!

It's sooooooo long overdue that I blogged for you Boys!

Given I style Men and I love Menswear and Men - in general :)  So, here is my first one especially for you Guys.  This caught my eye and I knew I had to Blog about it.... And what better way to start, than at the top with GUCCI Men's Spring / Summer 2012. Milan Fashion week is on as I write and GUCCI's Spring/Summer 2012 was released yesterday.

The (Head) Designer for the Italian luxury company - Frida Giannini reports she was channeling Michael Caine from the 60's in Alfie.  Love you Frida....

A model wears an outfit from the Gucci men's spring-summer 2012 collection, part of the Milan Fashion Week, on Monday, June 20, 2011.

For me,I also see Old school 'Rat Pack'.  It reminds of those slick suits Dean Martin and Sammy Davis Jnr wore, except these are in fabulous checks and gorgeous colours.  Unfortunately, like most hot designer clothing it helps to be slim to average in weight.  But Hey, if you're not there yet you still have plenty of time before Summer.  NO Manorexics though!!!

Of course, I know we can't all afford to deck ourselves out head to toe in GUCCI, however these pic's give you the look.  Consider them inspiration for the up coming Summer 2011.  You will definitely see these looks knocked off (or should I say reinterpreted) by stores here.  Try Zara Men for instance - I bet there will be something similar available pretty darn soon.  And Country Road will be sure to do a toned down version.  One of my favourite Men's stores Jack London, already covers this sort of look.  They always have a few out there kinda prints, colours or checks.  Check out Jack London - it's cool.

And check out the models - they are sexy - love those Sunnies!  If you can't afford the clothes - a pair of their Sunnies will help you get the look. GUCCI accessories are Gorgeous for both Men and Women.  I have worn their Sunglasses for years.

Don't be scared to experiment with Checks guys.  As you can see above this Dude looks fab in a pair of plain pants (could be jeans) with a highlight Jacket.  Tres Chic!

A SUCKER FOR GWYNETH!!!!

Hello there

I was staying with my darling friend Becca last week, when she excitedly informed me that she had purchased Gwyneth's new cook book!  WELL, let me tell you....WE LOVE GWYNETH!!!
I could not put it down and had to buy my own copy immediately.  I read it like a novel!

GWYNETH is the queen of style and a picture of radiant good health - I can't help but love her. I admire her courage and determination.  People love to bag her out for her blog or cooking etc, but she just holds her head high. People love to hate others who show strength of character, adventure and beauty. I think we can all take a leaf from Gwynnie's Book!  Be courageous and don't worry about what other people think of you!!! Yes, it may help being rich, beautiful and famous but Hey, 'lucky her' I say!

Gwyneth's cook book 'My Father's Daughter' is a tribute to her late father.  It is all about making cooking special, sharing with your family and friends.  It made me want to cook for others immediately.  I am generally not a cook book girl, I like to make things up myself.  However, Gwynnie's fresh and flavoursome recipes are right up my ally.  They are clean, simple and yummy.  She gives great Vegan and Vegetarian options - which I love!  She talks about using free range, local and organic produce.  And ways to get the kids involved.  Yes, she name drops - but who cares.  I love a little bit of Goss.

Okay, so I am a pushover, a softie....but seriously it's a great little book. The way she writes about her father is seriously heartwarming.  And there are heaps of gorgeous photos to paw over :)  Go see for yourself.

BTW...From a style point of view she is one of my all time favourites.  She ALWAYS looks fabulous and she works her bum off to stay in that amazing shape.  I wish I had that dedication.  So, if you ever need any ideas on what's hot - just look up Gwyneth - she is every designers dream come true.

Talk to you soon, Bon Appetite!!!

Turkey, Morocco, Burma, Mexico, Spain, Israel,Thailand, Philippines, all over Africa, India and so many more...these are the ones I can remember.

The jewellery is gorgeous.  I love it, so many yummy things.  The best thing about Alafia is you can buy something gorgeous for $20 right through to $2000 (for beautiful furniture)  If you need a gift, you will find something here.  The are 3 beautiful rooms - one upstairs.  Lorna loves to host launches and special evenings - so be sure to pop your email on the mailing list so you know whats happening.

THE BEST Saturday in a long time....

Hi Friends

Happy Saturday....

I am not usually this self indulgent BUT today was very special.  I had the best Saturday in a long time.  It is the first Saturday I have not worked in a long time and it has been so lovely.

I slept in, did a bit of reading (fashion magazine:), bike ride and late brekky at Turtle Cafe in Elwood.  My favourite place for poached eggs, yummy sour dough toast (I ask for butter!), spinach and mushrooms - I haven't found a place that beats Turtle for this combo.  BUT,  I always have to ask to have well cooked toast - so it is golden brown/tan.  Otherwise (no matter where I go) it will come out as a piece of heated bread!

Then it was a short ride to Elwood Community Market.  I have been desperate to go there for ages.  It is on the 1st Saturday in every month from 8am - 1pm. Bought fresh flowers at the best price - Oriental Lily, medium stems $8 a bunch.  Along with that, I got veggies, a huge pot of Flat Leaf Parsley (It's like a tree) and a pot of Mint.  I love Loads of fresh herbs in Salads.  And I love plants - hope they do well.

There are heaps of different stalls at the Elwood Market - you can buy UGGS ugg boots at a discounted price.  They maybe seconds, but they looked pretty good to me. Plants, Hats, Jewellery, Beautiful baked goods and a fantastic array of second hand clothing - similar to Camberwell Market.  There are loads of Kids clothes stores and many other treasures.

Road home - hilarious with all my goods - my massive pot or Parsley in front on my Bike basket.  People thought I was quite amusing.  One lovely lady said ..you bought too much love as I rode past.  And I responded I know - I couldn't help it!

Got home and got a little dressed up.  My beautiful sis Manda picked me up and off we went to Daniella Balscheit's Jewellery launch at SURROUND in St Kilda.  Daniella and husband Marcus are lovely, talented and so interesting.  Their store SURROUND is fabulous AND with this new addition it's even better.  The pieces are from NYC and Paris.  Both current and vintage pieces - and very reasonably priced.  Go check them out - they are so yummy.  I will do a write up on Daniella's range soon - with photos etc..

Now at my sister's house with my beautiful Niece and Nephew (Frank has gone to the footy).  Manda is cooking a Ricotta and Spinach Pie!  OH YES ...I'm in heaven.  AND THEN I GET TO GO TO THE FOOTY TO WATCH THE HAWKS W MY FAMILY AT MCG TMRW.   Yaaaaaaaaaay!

Post Match ...GO HAWKS!

If you made it through this self indulgent blog - Thank you!

Have a great night.
